Thèmes de Recherche :

Molecular Electronic – Organic solar cells – organic synthesis – thin film desposition – thin film properties

Recherche actuelle :

  • Synthesis of original organic molecules
  • Thin films elaboration and characterization
  • Organic thin film for organic spintronic
  • Fabrication and characterization of organic solar cells

The objectives are to go in deeper and better understanding in the electronic processes in the electronic molecular devices we study.

Topic 1

We developed the synthesis of original organic1,2 (and organo-metallic) molecules principally used as interfacial layer to inject electron onto the p-type of the active layer of organic solar cells.

Among the molecules synthesized some structures are :

Topic 2

We are deposing molecules (or metal) onto substrates, principally ITO on glass. At the laboratory we are equipped of a high vacuum thermal evaporator and a spin-coater into a set of gloves box.
The layer at first are characterized using an atomic force microscope either in classical contact mode or electrical and contact. This last mode allows to access to electrical and electronical out of the plane of thin layers such as in the 2 examples below :

  • Example 12 : 20 nm of DITPY onto ITO in current sensing AFM
  • Example 23 : 140 nm of POM, K6[P2W18O62], onto ITO, left is topography and right is current mapping
Topic 3

In collaboration with Jean-Baptiste Moussy, from SPEC (CEA), we are developing original multilayer structures based on the structure metal/orga/metal to elaborate spin valve4,5

Topic 4

The ending of synthesizing molecules and depositing it is to make devices. At the end most of the devices are photovoltaic cells. The cells are tested using an optical bench of measurement in the dark, under white illumination (100mW/cm²) and monochromatic light.

  • Example 16 : integration of CpCoCb as p-type (in association to PCBM) giving 1.9% (2.1%@20mW)
  • Example 2 : 20 nm thin film of DITPY as interfacial at the anodic surface of a P3HT:PCBM organic solar cell exhibiting almost 3% and proved to be an efficient hole collector to compensate the charge accumulation in P3HT
