Sustainable Polymers

Designing biobased polymers through synthesis – structure relations is at the core of this research theme. The two main path to biobased polymers are researched: polymerization of biobased monomers and chemical modification of biopolymers. A new path is also explored: biobased organogels.

The research funding from “Agence Nationale de la Recherche” (ANR) “AAP 2023 mono-équipe” bring together 6 academics and 1 engineer of the Polymer Chemistry team. This projects aims at developing new separation and characterization methods for biobased polymers:

  • robust methods whose performances are not or little affected by contaminants typically present in products derived from biomasss,
  • high-throughput methods for routine characterization of new biobased polymers,
  • advanced methods for in-depth analysis of distributions of molar masses, chemical compositions, branching and conformation of particularly-relevant biobased polymers.
