PhD offer (ECP group) – Self-Assembled Molecular Networks for High-Performance Molecular Rectifiers

Offer already filled

The ECP Team is looking for a candidate for a PhD scholarship on the topic:

Self-Assembled Molecular Networks
for High-Performance Molecular Rectifiers”.

Duration :

36 months starting from October 2024

Deadline of application :

15 April 2024

Summary of project :

The candidate will be working on the design and synthesis of novel, self-assembling supramolecular networks (SAMNs) for current rectification. This PhD project will focus on the design of different molecular building blocks to optimize contact quality, minimize contact resistance, and improve interface capacitance. Additionally, we will investigate various electron donor and acceptor components to efficiently tune intermolecular charge transfer, identified as a crucial factor in enhancing rectifier performance. The developed SAMNs will be tailored for adsorption on diverse conductive substrates.

Desired profile :

– Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry
– Some experience in (nanoscale) electronics, spectroscopy
– Experience in device fabrication is appreciated
– Rigorous research skills, demonstrable problem-solving abilities and critical thinking
– Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, multicultural team
– Academic record must meet doctoral school requirements (ED 397)
