The prize is awarded each year to one or more coordination chemists recognized for having contributed to the development of coordination chemistry through outstanding achievements or pioneering research. He is the third Frenchman to receive this award, after Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Pierre Braunstein.

The award will be presented at his guest lecture at the 74th conference of the Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (September 18-20, 2024, Gifu University and Nagaragawa Convention Center, Gifu, Japan).
