IPCM hosts Richmond Sarpong on 15 June 2023

As part of his tour as CNRS ambassador for chemical sciences in France(*), Richmond Sarpong, professor of chemistry at the University of California Berkeley (USA), will present a conference entitled

“ Break-it-to-Make-it Strategies for Chemical Synthesis Inspired by Complex Natural Products”

Richmond SARPONG

Thursday, June 15, 2023 – 10 a.m.

Sorbonne University
Jussieu Campus
Amphitheatre 25

In an interview for the CNRS Institute of Chemistry, he describes his research, which focuses on the development of powerful new tools for optimising the synthesis of natural products. In particular, he is one of the pioneers of molecular editing and the use of AI for retrosynthetic disconnections.

(*) In 2019, the CNRS Institute of Chemistry initiated the “Ambassadors of Chemical Sciences in France” programme. Its ambition? To allow prestigious foreign researchers to visit a series of French laboratories active in their field. These visits not only include high-level lectures by the ambassador, but are also an opportunity to establish preliminary contacts and foster international collaborations for the French laboratories visited.
