Scientific career

Niklas obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Zurich and continued his Master at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris.

In 2013, he started his PhD under the guidance of Dr. Thibault Cantat and Dr. Jean-Claude Berthet at the French Alternative and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Saclay, working on Frustrated Lewis Pairs and CO2 reduction. After a one year industrial postdoc with Prof. Marc Robert and Prof. Jean-Michel Savéant at LEM/Air Liquide, he joined the group of Prof. David Milstein at the Weizmann Institute of Science as a IASH postdoc fellow, working on the elucidation of reaction mechanisms of metal-ligand cooperative systems using a dual theoretical and experimental approach.

Beginning of 2019, he joined the “REACTE” team at the University Paris Diderot as a CNRS researcher, working on projects at the interface of organometallic catalysis, electrochemistry and DFT calculations.
