Research interests

Enantioselective synthesis of molecular materials. Coordination chemistry. Organometallic chemistry.

Current research

  • Optically active multifunctional materials
  • Functionalized apatites

Selected recent results

The coexistence in a material of strong magnetization (property 1) and chirality (right hand-left hand, property 2) creates a third property called magnetochiral dichroism. This is what we have just shown in a paper recently published in Nature Materials. This collaboration between chemists and physicists has made it possible to observe this property in a chiral magnet, designed and synthesized on purpose.

Magnetochiral dichroic effect: left, structure of the enantiomerically pure two-dimensional magnet; right, strong increase of the magnetochiral dichroic effect (optical measurement) in the ordered phase of the molecular magnet

Scientific career

  • Higher Technician Certificate in Chemistry 1964
  • Master’s degree in chemistry 1968
  • State doctorate thesis at GR12-CNRS under the direction of Dr. Daniel Lefort
